Statement of Faith

Camp Elim operates for the benefit of the Lord’s people and exists to see people brought to the knowledge of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.  Consequently, we feel that any group using our facilities should be able to endorse the following doctrinal statements without reservation*:

  • We believe in the verbal, plenary, inerrant inspiration of the Old and New Testaments as the very Word of God.
    2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21

  • We believe there is one triune God—the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
    Matt. 28:18-20; John 14:15-17

  • We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His substitutionary atonement for sin, His bodily resurrection and His future, personal, visible return to earth to reign in righteousness and glory.
    John 1:1-4, 14, 8:58, 10:30, Titus 2:11-14; Philip. 2:5-11; Rom. 5:1-2, 6-11; 2 Cor. 5:20-21; 1 Peter 2:24, 3:18; Luke 24:1-7, 33-43; John 20:19-29; Acts 1:1-11; John 14:1-3; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; Matt. 24:29-31; Rev. 19:11-16

  • We believe that man is by nature in rebellion against God and that he must be born again through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
    John 3:3-7, 14-18; Romans 3:10-20, 23-26, 6:23

  • We believe that the person of the Holy Spirit indwells and empowers every believer to live the Christian life and that each believer should seek to be a growing disciple of Jesus Christ in every area of life.
    John 14:15-17, 23-26; Ephesians 3:14-19, 4:1-6, 17-24

  • We believe God’s plan for human sexuality is to be expressed only within the context of marriage, that God created man and woman as unique biological persons made to complete each other. God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. For this reason, we believe that marriage is exclusively the union of one genetic male and one genetic female. Furthermore, we believe that since the two complementary biological sexes together reflect the image and nature of God, rejection of one's biological sex is a rejection of God's authority and sovereign design.
    Gen. 1:26-28, 2:18-24; 1 Cor. 6:9-11, 13-20, 7:1-4; Romans 1:18-32

  • We believe that human life is sacred from conception to its natural end; and that we must have concern for the physical and spiritual needs of our fellowmen.
    Psalms 139:13-16; John 13:34-35; 1 Cor. 16:13; Gal. 6:7-10

Camp Elim has delegated all authority for matters of faith and conduct, including without limitation the right to enforce and uphold this Statement of Faith, to the Camp Director. The Camp Director has the authority to make all decisions on behalf of Camp Elim.
(Romans 13:1-5)

*Note – we understand that many schools and other non-profit organizations are not allowed to endorse our doctrinal statement.  We simply ask that everyone using Camp Elim’s facilities neither teach anything contrary to our Statement of Faith nor use the facilities in any way that might disrespect or violate Camp Elim’s Statement of Faith.
