September 13-15, 2019
Our speaker for the 2019 Men's Retreat is Scott Hamilton. Scott holds a Bachelors of Arts in Christian Leadership from Colorado Christian University and is currently pursuing his Master of Arts in Theology with an emphasis in Traditional/Trinitarian theology at Colorado Christian University.
Scott was born as a Georgia peach (Marietta specifically) but was raised in Grand Lake, Colorado. He and his wife Tess have been married for 26 years and have two adult daughters.
Some trivia about Scott:
He's been tasered by the Westminster police department. It was voluntary. He’ll NEVER do that again.
He's an avid photographer focusing on portraiture (“focusing” See what he did there...).
His first concert was Def Leppard opening up for Billy Squire
Worst phobia: sharks (duh)
More emotional than his wife
Scott loves leadership, which to him means unlocking the potential of others. The better you lead the more you help others be a better version of themselves.
If you enjoy golf, then join others with a passion for the game and you play a round at Woodland Park's own Shining Mountain Golf Club. The course is conveniently located just a short drive away from Camp on Highway 67. Tee times are limited to the first 16 to sign up, so check with Camp Elim's office to secure your spot. The cost is $64 for 18 holes, cart included.
Go fishing with the guys! The Platte River by Deckers, 11 Mile Canyon, 11 Mile Reservoir, Rampart Reservoir, and Manitou Lake are all close to Camp and offer excellent lake or fly fishing options! So grab your waders or bait a hook and see what bites!
If you enjoy canoeing or open-water kayaking, join the group which will be heading out for one of the local reservoirs for a day on the lake. Even bring along your pole, if you like, and try trolling for the big one!
Grab your mountain bike and bring it to the retreat if you want to ride the local trails. There are many to choose from just a short distance from Camp. Don't forget your helmet and water bottle as you spend the day exploring with the guys!
Bring your shotguns, large or small bore rifles, handguns, and plenty of ammunition for some friendly competition at the shooting range! Prizes will be awarded for the "top shots." Don't forget your eye and hearing protection!
Hit the trail for a time of fellowship while spending time enjoying God's magnificient creation. The hike will be on a moderately difficult trail; nothing too extreme. All you need to bring is your water bottle, hiking stick, and sense of adventure! Happy trails!
